This is its own problem, and the list of causes is short. A unit that cooled yesterday and does not cool after a wash almost always has something wet, something loose or something still blocked. Work through these before you assume the worst.
- Give it time to dry. A unit switched on while the board and the blower are still damp can run without cooling, and some will not start at all.
- Check the filter went back the right way round and is fully seated. A filter sitting proud lets air bypass the coil completely.
- Look at the drain. Cleaning loosens the sludge and it can settle into the hose, and a backed-up drain makes some units cut the cooling.
- Feel the outdoor unit. If the fan is not turning, the problem is out there, not in the part that was just washed.
- Listen for the compressor. Fan blowing but no compressor is an electrical fault or low refrigerant, and neither is a cleaning job.
One that catches people out: a wash does not cause low refrigerant, it reveals it. A coil packed with dust can hide a slow leak for months by making the unit weak in a way you have already got used to. Clean it and the weakness has nowhere left to hide, so the leak looks like the cleaner broke something. It did not.
